Indian subsidiary Maruti Suzuki contributed over half of Suzuki Motor's overall global production and about 54% of its global sales during the fiscal year ended 31 March 2017.
The Economic Times said Suzuki manufactured 3,075,257 units worldwide (up for the first time in two years) of which Maruti contributed around 1.59m. The company said in a statement overseas production volume saw the highest ever growth owing to increases in production in countries such as India and Hungary.

The statement added: "Global production volume exceeded 3m units for the first time in two years and became the highest ever owing to increase in both Japan and overseas production."
Suzuki sold 2,918,093 units worldwide last fiscal year while Maruti Suzuki's sales, including exports, reached 1,565,680 – 53% of its parent's global sales.
From its total production, Maruti sold 92% at home – around 1.45m units – and exported 124,000 last financial year. Overall growth was about 9.8%.
Maruti Suzuki has three factories in India. The Suzuki Motor owned Gujarat plant, opened last February, has capacity of 250,000 units while the Maruti owned Gurgaon factory can produce 700,000 units and Manesar 800,000 annually.
