Malaysia's Tan Chong Motor Holdings (TCMH) has filed a US$33m counter-lawsuit against Narita Motorcare (Cambodia) in defence of its sole right to import and distribute Nissan vehicles in Cambodia.
TCMH said that, in 2010, through its local Cambodian subsidiaries Tan Chong Motor (Cambodia) and ETCM Cambodia, it signed an agreement with Nissan Motor to exclusively distribute its vehicles in the country. This also includes the right to appoint dealers.

TCMH said that, as a result of the agreement, it took over as the sole Nissan distribution operations from Denmark's Kjaer Group for which Narita Motorcare was a non exclusive Nissan dealer.
Narita maintains it had been appointed by Kjaer Group as the sole distributor of Nissan vehicles in the country and that it was also the de facto distributor.
TCMH said it wanted to appoint Narita as a non exclusive dealer in the capital city Phnom Penh, but that Narita contented its right to import Nissan vehicles directly and filed a lawsuit in 2015 to claim these rights.
