Tenneco has announced it is supplying selective catalytic reduction, diesel particulate filter and muffler systems for Jaguar Land Rover's recently launched, redesigned, seven-seat Discovery SUV.

The Land Rover components are in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales.

"The new Discovery will help showcase Tenneco's leadership in the development of innovative and effective clean air solutions," said Patrick Guo, executive vice president, Tenneco, and president, of the supplier's Clean Air unit.

The latest Discovery achieved a first full-month of sales tally of 3,284 buyers in its home market in March.

It is built on the same wheelbase as the Range Rover but has seven seats. One major change is a tailgate which is not split. It is still top-hinged but where the previous model had a fold-down lower half, in the new Discovery there is instead a horizontal panel which slides out to rest objects on. This will also move into a vertical position and act as a load divider.

Available engines are the two-litre four-cylinder Ingenium diesel biturbo built in JLR's new engine plant in Wolverhampton and the three-litre V6 diesel biturbo and three-litre V6 supercharged petrol, both supplied by Ford.
