The Carnival (Sedona) minivan has overtaken the Rio as Kia’s top selling export model, selling 6,096 units in June to the Rio’s 4,061, though the Rio is still ahead for the year to date, selling 45,246 units to the Carnival’s 44,956.
The Carnival is expected to finish the year as Kia’s number one export.
“The Carnival has been instrumental in raising the status of the Kia brand around the world,” says senior executive vice president Mark Juhn, Kia’s chief operating officer.
The Carnival has picked up a number of awards, including Best Value MPV, Best Diesel MPV and Best Used Car in the UK.
The Korean minivan is also Australia’s best-selling “people mover”.
