Toyota Motor Sales will this month start selling the 2003 Partial Zero Emission Vehicle (PZEV) Camry in California.
Most 2003 models with four-cylinder engines and automatic transmissions sold in California will meet PZEV standards, the company said in an announcement made soon after Ford said it would soon start selling PZEV Focus models in the state as well as New York, Vermont and Massachussets.
Like the Focus, the PZEV Camry complies with the State of California’s Clean Air Initiative, meeting the Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (SULEV) standard for tailpipe exhaust emissions and emitting virtually zero vaporised fuel from the petrol tank and fuel system.
The PZEV Camry carries an emission warranty period of 15 years or 150,000 miles and is distinguished by a sticker placed in the left rear quarter panel window.
