Daewoo Motor Co., a Korean automaker that may soon be acquired by Ford Motor Co., said its first-half loss almost doubled because its costs to service debts swelled and losses at overseas units increased.

Korea’s second-largest automaker posted a net loss of $840 million in the six months through June, compared with a loss of $425 million in the same period last year.
