Lear has opened its new manufacturing seating facility in Flint, Michigan.
The 156,000-square feet plant will employ around 600 team members by the end of 2019, with more than 400 being new hires to Lear.

The factory will build seats for just-in-time delivery to the nearby General Motors Flint Assembly plant, as well as the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana.
“Flint is the definition of a community-driven city, fuelled by dedicated people who are committed to making things happen,” said Lear president and CEO, Ray Scott.
“I see the opening of this plant as a way to show appreciation for Flint and bring together some of the hardest-working people in Michigan, while producing innovative products for our customers.”
Lear notes it has been named GM Supplier of the Year 16 times.

By GlobalDataWaste and recycling efforts will ensure the facility is a zero waste to landfill. Additional elements include energy-efficient lighting and an area dedicated for green space—30% of the 33-plus acre site.
The US supplier says its Flint seating plant is the first major automotive supplier manufacturing facility constructed in Flint in more than 30 years.
