Ionity, the joint venture of BMW, Daimler, Ford and Volkswagen Group with Audi and Porsche, has signed a framework agreement with Eni to build up to 30High Power Charging stations in Italy from 2019.

The new partnership complements the cooperation agreement Ionity has already signed with Enel, or more specifically its advanced energy services division Enel X, to install up to 20 Ionity high power charging stations by the end of next year.

All stations will feature 350kW chargers, which in combination with the Combined Charging System (CCS), will significantly reduce charging times compared to existing systems and guarantee access to the chargers to a much greater range of vehicle manufacturers

Ionity is based in Munich and was founded in 2017; it is a joint venture of the BMW Group, Daimler, Ford Motor Company and the Volkswagen Group including Audi and Porsche.

Ionity’s aim is to build a reliable High-Power Charging network (HPC) for electric vehicles in Europe.
