The Chilean government has celebrated the arrival of 100 BYD K9FE electric buses in Santiago, the capital of Chile.
This also marks the largest single pure electric bus fleet delivery in Latin America, powering forward the country's public transport electrification revolution.

BYD's local partner, Enel, handed the fleet over to the city's bus operator Metbus. The fleet will service Santiago's most important areas. These buses are equipped with BYD's latest battery technology, with a single charge covering over 250kilometres.
The country manager of BYD Chile Tamara Berrios said: "BYD is proud of being part of this historical moment for Chile. This positions Santiago as a leader in sustainable cities in Latin America."
BYD's pure electric buses are already operating elsewhere in Chile, and their advanced technology has passed the country's bus certification standards.
The Chile branch was established in 2014 with the mission of promoting the electric vehicle business throughout the country. In May 2016, BYD launched its first electric bus for community services in Chile, and in May 2017, BYD won the first purchase order for two pure electric buses in the country.
At present, BYD pure electric buses are successfully servicing markets in many countries across Latin America, including Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil and Uruguay. Globally, BYD's pure electric buses, taxis and other vehicles have spread over 300 cities, in more than 50 countries and regions.
