Ford this week opened a new THB100m (US$3m) automotive parts distribution centre in the Bangna-Trad industrial complex on the outskirts of Thailand's capital city Bangkok.
 
The automaker said the new centre uses advanced systems, including its proprietary PANDA warehouse management system, to help it keep up with rising demand as the number of Ford vehicles on Thai roads continues rapid expansion. 

The new system helps Ford locate and retrieve parts from stock in all nine Asia Pacific markets in which it operates, improving parts availability to customers in Thailand.

Earlier this week Mercedes-Benz opened a new vehicle pre delivery inspection and preparation centre in Samut Prakan, also on the outskirts of Bangkok.

The new centre is able to handle up to 20,000 vehicles per year, compared with 12,000 at the existing facility. Mercedes Benz uses local assembler Bangchan General Assembly to carry out inspection and preparation.

Mercedes-Benz Thai sales rose by more than 19% to 10,812 vehicles in the first nine months of 2017.
