The trade newspaper said the Scrambler, developed initially for military use overseas, goes on sale as a 2005 model in mid-July 2004 and will be built at the rate of 20,000 a year.


Automotive News said the Scrambler concept, displayed at the annual National Automobile Dealers Association conference in San Francisco at the weekend, is built on a stretched Wrangler wheelbase, enabling the addition of a four-foot pickup bed behind a two-passenger compartment. The newspaper said the Scrambler would be available with long and short wheelbases with four- and six-cylinder engines.
