BMW spokesman Jochem Frey told the news agency that the recall will cost the company about 5 million euros ($US5.41 million).
He told Bloomberg News that there is a risk a hose used in the braking system could loosen, leading to scraping of the brake drum but no accidents have been associated with the problem.
