As heralded before the event, Toyota used the LA show to launch new L branded three row Lexus RX models expected to be offered pretty much worldwide.
The body is 110mm (4.3 inches) longer at the rear with a steeper tailgate window angle ensuring good headroom for third row passengers and decent cargo room behind the third row.

The seven seat version has a 60/40 split bench seat which slides slides forward for rear row access.
Lexus claims a longer cargo floor area behind the third row than competitors.
Positioning of the second row is slightly higher than the third row, providing more foot room for rear passengers. Standard leather upholstery is available in a choice of colours. Tri-zone climate control gives third-row passengers separate rear air conditioning and dedicated vents, and for convenience, a power folding third-row seat and smart power tailgate are available – placing a hand near the Lexus emblem opens or closes the 'gate.
Other details include a flat load floor behind the folded third row, a pair of third row cupholders, a stowable tonneau cover and covered slide rails.
Full length side curtain airbags cover all three rows.
US model choice is 350L or hybrid 450h L. The latter will be sold in Europe.
The new models have joined another late to the three-row SUV party – Subaru's Ascent was also shown in LA.
