New vehicle sales in Indonesia rose 3.7% on month to 27,109 units in February, the car assemblers’ association Gaikindo said Tuesday, according to Dow Jones.
Commercial vehicles accounted for 25,132 units of total sales in February, up 4% from 24,164 in January, Gaikindo said.

The country’s largest vehicle maker PT Astra International (P.ASI) – which has a joint venture with Toyota to assemble and distribute the Japanese company’s vehicles in Indonesia – saw a 3.4% increase in sales to 11,507 units from 11,125 in January, Gaikindo said.


Passenger car sales – a barometer of consumer confidence – were slightly lower in February at 1,977 units compared with 1,983 in January, the Dow Jones report noted.
