Geely Automobile and Hunan Corun New Energy, a local manufacturer of lithium batteries, have launched a technology sharing platform for the development of new-energy vehicles (NEVs), including electric and hybrid-electric vehicles.
So far, nine Chinese brands have agreed to fund joint research through this programme which is expected to help develop standardised technologies for this industry.

Geely and Hunan Corun recently joined forces to build a hybrid vehicle plant in Changsha, Hunan Province, which is scheduled to start production in 2017.
The Chinese government is actively supporting sales of new energy vehicles and is committed to expanding recharging networks. Sales of these vehicles reached 379,000 units last year, mostly electric and hybrid vehicles.
