National Electric Vehicle Sweden AB (Nevs) and State Grid Electric Vehicle Service have signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement.

"I am very proud that State Grid has chosen Nevs as a preferred partner for mobility solutions and as a supplier of electric vehicles. State Grid plays a very strategic and operational role in China's transformation to more sustainable solutions," said Stefan Tilk, vice chairman of Nevs.

State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) was established as a state-owned enterprise in 2002. The largest public service company in the world, it constructs and operates power grids as its core business. It has CNY200bn registered capital and 1.87m employees.

State Grid Electric Vehicle Service is a wholly owned subsidiary. It was founded in 2015 with CNY3bn to focus on advancing the electric vehicle industry and 'green' development in China.

Nevs was founded in 2012 and acquired the main assets of Saab Automobile. The company is owned by NME Holdings in Tianjin City, the Tianjin Binhai Hi-tech Industrial Development Area, (THT) and State Research Information Technology (SRIT).

Nevs' head office and main research and development facilities are located in Trollhättan, Sweden along with the car production plant. A second production plant and an R&D Centre are under construction in Tianjin.
