Car parts supplier ArvinMeritor on Tuesday said it plans to close its light vehicle systems apertures facility in Gordonsville, Tennessee, by August, idling 317 people, Reuters reported.

According to Reuters, the company said it was closing the plant, which produces window regulators and sunroof systems, due to excess capacity in the North American passenger car supplier market and the closure was part of the company’s overall cost-cutting efforts.


Reuters reported that ArvinMeritor would transfer the Gordonsville operations to facilities in Detroit, Michigan; Marion, South Carolina; Franklin, Indiana; and Queretaro, Mexico.
