Benteler Automotive's new plant in Wrzesnia near Poznan, Poland, will produce front-end and chassis modules from individual components for the next generation Volkswagen Crafter.
These will be delivered to the specified point of use, in the quantity and sequence the customer demands, and at the required time. From 2018 onwards the plant will be producing an average of over 100,000 vehicle modules per year, on 5,300 square metres of production space in close proximity to the VW plant. By the end of 2017 this will generate around 100 new jobs.

The company already has plants in the Czech Republic, Hungary, the Slovak Republic and Russia and this is its first production location in Poland. It is its second modules plant in the region, the first being in Kaluga (Russia) where VW has an assembly plant.
"The opening of our new location is a key step in extending our capacities in the growth market of eastern Europe. In taking this step we are continuing our strategy of catering to customer demand at the point at which that demand arises. It means we are always flexible and have our manufacturing operations in close proximity to the customers," said COO Laurent Favre. "Fundamentally we are aiming for a balanced mix in our customer, product and market portfolio. In that way we are independent from the development of individual models, customers and markets."
