Brembo has inaugurated its new plant in Escobedo, Mexico, augmenting its operations in the country where it started in 1996 with the establishment of a joint-venture in Puebla.

The new manufacturing site in Escobedo is an aluminium caliper plant, which, once fully operational, will be capable of making 2m components per year, adding sales of more than US$100m a year and creating around 500 jobs.

During the inauguration ceremony, Brembo also announced it would start construction of a new foundry for the production of cast iron discs, adjacent to the new caliper plant.

Work on the new foundry will begin in a few weeks and will be operational by the end of 2017. With an investment of US$93m, the new facility will have a melting capacity of around 100,000t per year, employing around 200 people.

The production of the new plant will be dedicated to American, European and Asian OEMs present in Mexico with manufacturing facilities.
