The Financial Express of India reports that Toyota’s local operating unit, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Ltd (TKML), is to set up a ‘100 per cent export-oriented’ transmission line at Bidadi near Bangalore. The report adds that the line is being built to enable Toyota to meet its global requirements.

The report also says that the unit will be commissioned in 2004.

A separate company, Toyota Kirloskar Auto Components Ltd, has been floated for setting up the unit, in which 90 per cent share will be held by Toyota Motor Corporation and the balance by Kirloskar Group.
