AFP reports that Philippines auto sales rose to 7,792 units in August – a 0.9% gain on the same period of last year.
However, sales in the eight months to August rose 7.2% to 53,927 vehicles, the report said, citing as source the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines.

However, the August picture was more mixed in terms of sales by vehicle type. Car sales reportedly fell 26% to 2,003 units, but trucks and SUVs expanded 15% to 5,789 units.
Toyota, Honda and Mitsubishi lead the market.
