In Japan, monthly production may fall after April, when Japan increases its consumption tax from five to eight percent, the newspaper said.
However, the impact of the increased tax is expected to be lowered by the reduced automobile acquisition tax that will be effective from the fiscal year beginning April, the newspaper added.
Japan’s economic recovery should help to lift output later in the year, the report added.
In 2013, Toyota targeted production of record 10.12m vehicles, after surpassing General Motors in 2012. Between January and November, the company produced 9.3m vehicles.
