Auto Express said Mazda is recalling around 42,000 2010-2012 6 models there because spider infestation could result in fires.

The automaker has previously recalled 2009-2010 6 models.

The yellow sac spider, which is drawn to the smell of petrol, “may weave a web in the evaporative canister vent line, potentially causing a restriction in the line,” the company told Auto Express. “If this occurs, the fuel tank pressure may become excessively negative when the emission control system works to purge the vapours from the canister.

“As the canister is purged repeatedly during normal operation, the stress on the fuel tank may eventually result in a crack, potentially leading to fuel leakage and an increased risk of fire.” the carmaker added.

But, so far, there have been no reports of fires.
