Hyundai Motor America (HMA) intends to double sales of the Tucson compact SUV by increasing production.
HMA CEO, Dave Zuchowski, told the Detroit News the automaker intends to increase allotment of SUVs in the US from around 45,000 to 90,000, with the next generation Tucson, due out early in 2015.
Owing to a poor product mix, HMA suffered a fall in market share in 2013. The automaker made insufficient SUVs and too many cars, according to Zuchowski.
Tucson is a part of a new vehicle line the carmaker plans to introduce. In next three years it will launch 12 new vehicles.
