New vehicle sales in Malaysia rose by 11.9% to 58,732 in April, from weak year-earlier sales of 52,489 units, according to data released by the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA). 

Year-to-date sales increased by 4% to 218,642 units, from 210,223 units in the same period of 2013, driven by new models and helped by low interest rates.

Vehicle production in April increased by 12.5% year-on-year to 57,086, from 50,727 units, while year-to-date output was 6.9% higher at 210,443 units, from 196,778 units the previously.
