UK auto engine output rose 2.9% year on year in April to 217,599 units, as year to date volume inched down 0.3% to 869,048 units.
The SMMT said April growth was powered by export production, up 12.6% to 143,686.

Year to date exports were up 6.7% to 565,250.
“European market recovery and investment in new UK facilities bode well for the industry’s future,” the SMMT said.
