Volkswagen’s Santana in China will be fitted with a 1.4L turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, according to local media reports. The engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual or a six-speed DSG and deliver power of 131hp.

Following a debut at the Chengdu Auto Show in September, the Santana 1.4T will be launched in China in October at a starting price of CNY110,000 (US$17,882).

Volkswagen Santana is currently available with a 90hp 1.4 and a 110hp 1.6, both mated to a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic.
