The European model differs only in detail from the Japanese version.
Nissan will also show a ‘concept’ Micra C+C with metal folding roof. Should this go into production, which seems likely, it would be an ideal rival for Peugeot’s 206 CC convertible-coupe.
The new Micra has a 72mm increase in wheelbase that gives more passenger and luggage room and space is increased further through a sliding rear seat, which varies rear leg room and luggage volume to suit.
New features include automatic wipers, automatic air conditioning and an intelligent key (borrowed from partner Renault) which allows the doors and tailgate to be locked and unlocked, and the engine started without having to insert either a key or a card into the vehicle.

By GlobalDataThis ‘smart’ system allows the vehicle to detect when the intelligent key approaches within 80cm of the car – the doors are then locked and unlocked by pressing a button mounted on the door handle mechanism.
Once the car detects the presence of the key inside the car, the engine may be started simply by turning the ignition switch.
Paris will also see a revised Almera range, built in the UK alongside the Micra, with mildly revised noser and tail styling and a new interior with centrally mounted seven-inch colour monitor for the DVD-based satellite navigation system. The screen also doubles as a display for the fully automatic air conditioning, telephone integration and integrated hi-fi system.
