Including this week’s estimates, calendar year North American output now totals 11,292,825 vehicles, up 6.0% from like-2001’s pace.

In the US, automakers are expected to produce 244,339 vehicles this week, down 6.0% from the 259,931 cars and trucks built last week. To date, calendar 2002 US vehicle output totals an estimated 8,264,626 units, up 7.6% from the 7,680,759 vehicles built in like-2001.

This week’s Canadian vehicle production is estimated at 51,402, an 18.3% decrease from the 62,936 units assembled last week. Estimated calendar-2002 Canadian vehicle production now stands at 1,805,051 units, up 3.7% compared to the 1,740,788 vehicles produced in like-2001.

Of the cars and trucks slated for production this week in the US, General Motors Corp. accounted for 29.6%; Ford Motor Co., 30.1%; Chrysler of DaimlerChrysler, 14.9%; Honda of America Mfg. Inc., 6.4%; Toyota Motor Mfg. Inc., 5.4%; Nissan Motor Mfg. Corp., 4.1%; New United Motor Mfg. Inc., 3.1%; Subaru-Isuzu Automotive Inc., 1.2%; Mitsubishi Motor Mfg. of America Inc., 1.7%; AutoAlliance International Inc., 0.3%; Mercedes-Benz U.S. of DaimlerChrysler, 0.7%; BMW of North America Inc., 1.0%; and other manufacturers, 1.5%.
