The first Mazda6 has rolled off the line at an assembly plant in Russia.
Mazda is working with Sollers, the same partner as Ford, though the Japanese firm’s arrangement is for the contract assembler to build its models in Vladivostok, a different location to where Ford models are made.

News of the first car coming off the line follows an original announcement made in November 2011. At that time, Mazda stated that it had signed an MoU with OJSC Sollers for the production of ‘several Mazda nameplates’ at a plant in Vladivostok, in Russia’s Far Eastern Federal District. The Mazda6 sedan would be one of the models, Mazda confirmed in April 2012. The other is the CX-5.
Production of the third-generation Mazda Atenza/Mazda6 commenced at Hofu No. 2 in August 2012. The Hiroshima plant is scheduled to build 120,000 units of the car per annum. The car is also likely to be built in China from late 2013 at the FAW Mazda facility in Changchun but this is yet to be confirmed.
