After leading the successful expansion of Porsche in China since 2007, Helmut Bröker is to take over as head of the region covering the Middle East, Africa, India, South-East Asia, Australia/New Zealand, Japan and Latin America from 1 July.

The move is part of a re-shuffle at the sportscar maker. He takes over from Deesch Papke who has successfully developed the sales region over the last two years and has now been named the new CEO of Porsche China.

Bröker’s career spans 26 years; before joining Porsche in 2007 he worked for BMW in Asia, Australia, Middle East and North America. Over the past six years Porsche sales in China, Hong Kong and Macau have increased from 4,856 to 31,205 vehicles in 2012 making China its second largest market after the US.

Papke has held management roles at Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Land Rover and Volvo in South Africa and in Russia. He joined Porsche in 2005.

In a further announcement, Joe Lawrence, currently managing director at Porsche Canada, has been named chief operating officer at Porsche Cars North America where sales are up 29% to 13,861 so far in 2013.

His successor at Porsche Canada has yet to be announced.

Michael Bartsch, currently COO for North America, will move to take over as managing director of Porsche Cars Australia.

Christer Ekberg, currently managing director of Porsche Asia Pacific, will be the new MD of Porsche Middle East and Africa.
