“Preliminary agreements were made three years ago and led to the final contract between IKCO, an Iraqi company and the Ministry of Industry of Iraq,” said Abdolazim Sadian, IKCO deputy CEO in export and international affairs.

The plant will focus on production of IKCO brand cars like Samand and Runna.

IKCO says it has been exporting its Roa, Peugeot 405, Peugeot Pars and Samand to Iraq for about a decade. IKCO now intends to dispatch Runna to the country, followed by Dena in the near future.

According to Sadian, Iraqi people admire the quality of IKCO cars. He said the new production plant would enhance the company’s presence in the country.

Iraq is one of IKCO’s most important target markets, and the company achieved 40% of its global sales in the country last year.
