The Nikkei reported Honda will launch 12 new models in China over the next three years of which five will be China-specific models rather than modified US, Europe or Japan models.
Of those five, two have been developed in China at the company’s R&D centre in Guangzhou. The first is a family saloon, the Crider, which is slightly smaller than the current Civic and is due to go on sale later this month.
Honda has said it wants to sell 1.2m vehicles a year in China in 2015, more than double last year’s sales.
