Daimler on Friday said preliminary EBIT for the second quarter of 2013 was “above expectations”. Group revenue was EUR29.7bn while EBIT including special items was EUR5.2bn.

  • Daimler Trucks:  EUR434m

  • Daimler Buses:  EUR27m
  • Daimler Financial Services:  EUR319m

Negative special items in connection with ongoing restructuring were included in the Daimler Trucks (-EUR82m) and Daimler Buses (-EUR20m) result. As previously announced, there was also a special item with a positive impact on EBIT related to the sale of EADS stakes; this tallied EUR3.2bn.

As previously announced, earnings  ongoing business improved in the second quarter.

Divisions’ revenues were:

  • Mercedes-Benz Cars:  EUR16.3bn
  • Daimler Trucks:  EUR8.0bn
  • Mercedes-Benz Vans:  EUR2.4bn
  • Daimler Buses:  EUR0.9bn
  • Daimler Financial Services:  EUR3.5bn

EBIT outlook for full year 2013

Daimler said second quarter earnings were largely in line with internal expectations and also with the current outlook for EBIT growth in 2013.

Current EBIT forecasts for the Daimler Group and its divisions remain unchanged.

“On the basis of our unchanged assumptions for the further development of our key markets and the ongoing growth initiatives and efficiency programmes, we continue to assume that EBIT in the second half of the year will be higher than in the first half,” the automaker said in a statement.

Final Q2 results will be announced on 24 July.
