Hyundai Motor has completed the expansion of its vehicle assembly plant in Izmit, Turkey, with an investment of EUR475m (US$622.23m).

The move is likely to boost capacity of the Hyundai Assan Otomotive Sanayi (HAOS) facility to 200,000 units by 2014, reports Automotive Business Review. It will take the overall European production capacity of Hyundai to 500,000 units a year.

The automaker will manufacture the upgraded i10 and i20 models at the expanded plant.

Around 90% of vehicles sold in Europe will also have been built in the region by the end of 2013.
