Analysts are confident that vehicle sales in Malaysia will improve in the second half of the year, driven by attractive seasonal offers and model launches.

The Business Times of Malaysia reported that the sales outlook in July particularly is good with buyers taking delivery of vehicles ahead of the festive holidays.

New vehicle sales picked up in June after falling for two months, registering growth of 8.1% to 53,631 units.

RHB Research told the Business Times it expects sales in July to be seasonally higher during the pre-Aidilfitri period, helped by aggressive promotional offers from the car companies.

Sales for the first half of this year grew 4.1% over 2012 to 313,488 units. Perodua retained leadership in June with a 29.4% market share. Proton sales recovered 19.3% in June having recorded the lowest total monthly volume for six years in May.

Toyota was the leading foreign brand with 9,360 sales, down 9.5%. Nissan was next with 3,969 sales. Honda, which ranked fifth overall, sold 3,232 units in June, up 18.8%.
