New vehicle sales in the Philippines increased 8.2% year on year in July to 15,686 units, according to the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA).
The data did not include that for some key imported brands, such as Hyundai, Chevrolet and Subaru, which typically account for around 15% of the total market.

Passenger car sales jumped by 16.8% to 5,063 units, from 4,336 units a year earlier, driven by strong economic growth, low interest rates and high levels of remittances from overseas workers. Commercial vehicle sales were up by 4.5% at 10,623 units, from 10,167 units..
Sales in the first seven months of the year rose by 17.8% to 102,913 units from 87,374 units previously.
