Mitsubishi’s
North American
operation will unveil production
Endeavor SUV (above) and Tarmac Spyder
(below) concept at Detroit on January
6

The Tarmac Spyder Concept was inspired
by the well-received CZ-3 Tarmac sports
hatch concept that appeared at the 2001
Tokyo Motor Show (but was not shown in North
America) but has a more aggressive look
and more performance.

Mitsubishi will also show the production
Endeavor, an all-new, mid-sized SUV designed
and built in the USA specifically for the
North American market. The Endeavor will
compete against the Toyota Highlander, Honda
Pilot, and Nissan’s new Murano crossover.

The Endeavor will have a 3.5-litre petrol
V6 engine and will be available with either
front or all-wheel-drive. The new Mitsubishi
crossover goes on sale in March 2003 as
a 2004 model.

The Endeavour is the first vehicle to be placed on sale under Mitsubishi Motors’ Project America initiative, a $US1.4 billion investment to develop vehicles in North America specifically for that market.
