To cope with growing demand for the Chevrolet Cruze, General Motors (GM) has cancelled plans to keep its Lordstown assembly plant in Ohio closed during the last week of August.
GM spokesman Annalisa Bluhm told Reuters, “Sales have been brisk. We didn’t want to lose momentum so we decided to abstain from taking the week off.”

The automaker earlier announced that it would suspend production at the plant for a week to align production with demand. United Auto Workers (UAW) Local 1112 now says workers will continue to assemble cars as usual during the period.
US sales of the Cruze rose 24% in the first seven months of 2013, and jumped 70% in the month of July.
