New vehicle sales in Taiwan fell by 17.5% to 21,306 units in August, from 24,343 units a year earlier, according to data released by the industry.
Cumulative sales in the first eight months of the year fell by 4.5% to 243,601 units, with sluggish global growth affecting domestic confidence.

Toyota’s distributor Hotai Motor reported a 25% year-on-year decline in sales to 6,603 units, for a market share of close to 31%. Yulon Nissan Motor sold 2,436 units, followed by China Motor (Mitsubishi) with 2,090 sales and Ford Lio Ho with 1,945 units.
