Production of the new Nissan Note has begun at Nissan’s UK (Sunderland) facility.

The Sunderland plant is expected to build up to 100,000 units of the model in its first full year of production.

The official start of production was marked at a ceremony on Line 2 at Sunderland Plant by John Martin, Nissan’s Senior Vice President for Manufacturing, Purchasing and Supply Chain Management in Europe, with the UK’s Minister of State for Business and Enterprise, Michael Fallon, in attendance.

Images and initial details of the second generation Note were revealed to the media in July 2012. The car itself went on sale in Japan, its first market, two months later. Production at the Nissan Motor Kyushu plant started in August 2012. 

Build in Mexico commenced in May 2013. The car, which had its regional debut at the Detroit motor show in January 2013, is sold in North America as the 2014 Versa Note.
