The additional employees will be laid off when GM cuts the plant’s second shift in January 2015.
The company said the redundancies would be temporary with the shift restored when production of the next generation Chevrolet Camaro is shifted from Canada.
Of the laid off employees most will be new hires though around 200 will be transferred to the Lansing Delta Township assembly plant.
