Volkswagen’s Slovakian factory at Bratislava is the brand’s safest plant while pre-assembly at the company’s Wolfsburg plant was the best organisational unit.
VW’s occupational safety trophy is presented annually to the best plants and organisation units in the passenger cars and commercial vehicles divisions. Bratislava was honoured for the second year running.

Michael Macht, board member with responsibility for group production, said: “Volkswagen takes on responsibility – particularly as regards its employees. By further developing and systematically implementing our occupational safety measures we have reduced the number of accidents at plants worldwide by 3% over the past 12 months.”
The Navarra plant in Pamplona took second place and VW Autoeuropa in Setubal, Portugal, came third.
