Despite announcing a recall of more than 25,000 cars in the country, BMW said it expects to sell another record number of cars in China this year.
The carmaker has already recalled nearly 220,000 cars this year to fix electric power steering faults and tail lights. China’s consumer quality watchdog said BMW will recall 25,254 cars from next February due to a faulty power brake system.

The cars to be recalled next year include 4,083 vehicles produced by the BMW Brilliance joint venture. Other models to be recalled are the 125i, 320i, 328i, 520i, 528i, X1, X3 and Z4.
Despite the setbacks, BMW said its China sales rose more than 20% in the first nine months of this year, on course for another year of record sales in the country. It sold 284,964 BMW and Mini vehicles in the January to September period.
That compares with a 12.7% growth in China’s vehicle market and 9% growth in BMW’s global deliveries during the same period. As part of BMW’s global push to win market share, it has stepped up investment in brand stores and dealers in China, and introduced Apple-style customer services.
