Toyota Boshoku has said that it has started seat cover production at a new joint venture in Heyuan in the southern China province of Guangdong.

The joint firm, Heyuan Toyota Boshoku Automotive Parts Co., is 75%% owned by Toyota Boshoku (China) Co., and 25% by Guangzhou Automobile Group Component Co.

The joint company’s 4.14-million-dollar plant is capable of producing auto interior components, mainly seat covers, for 230,000 units of Toyota Motor Corp.’s Camry sedan per year.

Heyuan Toyota Boshoku Automotive took over seat cover production from Guangzhou Intex Auto Parts, another joint venture between Toyota Boshoku and Guangzhou Automobile Group Component.

Seat covers made at the new plant will be used during seat assembly at Guangzhou Intex for delivery to GAC Toyota Motor Co., which makes the Camry.
