Biggest gains in October were in Asia-Pacific, up 14.4% and North America, up 9.6%. Sales in Europe grew 1.3% despite a 2.8% decline in its domestic market. The slump in Germany was offset by strong growth in the UK (up 14.4% to 10,400 units) and Russia where sales grew 5.7% to 3,100 units.

October’s success was in part credited to the launch of the saloon version of the A3 which reached dealerships in the second half of September.

Sales of all A3 derivatives reached 18,800, up 33% over year-ago levels with worldwide sales of the Q3 climbing 49.9% to around 12,950 units.
