Faurecia and Magneti Marelli will cooperate on ‘advanced human-machine interface (HMI) vehicle interior products’ – controls and displays in other words.
The pair said the deal would increase the value of interior parts they sell to automakers or other parts makers.

HMI products will be added to centre stacks, fascias and overhead consoles, retractable displays or connections for devices such as smartphones and tablets.
Faurecia has expertise in interior modules while Magneti Marelli is established with displays, electronics, switches and tactile functions.
The suppliers are trying to win business from automakers for retractable touchscreens and device integration.
“Whether fixed or retractable, displays are ever more present inside vehicles, growing in size and becoming increasingly tactile,” they said.
Faurecia wants to add device connection as it is already offering wireless charging components through its partnership with Philips and Lite-On Digital Solutions.
Magneti Marelli wants to add voice, touch and display features to interior parts it supplies.
