The report said Suzuki Metal India Ltd., the joint venture between Suzuki and Maruti, India’s biggest car maker, set up the aluminium plant with an investment of 1.15 billion rupees ($US25 million).
Setting up the aluminum foundry at Menesar, near Maruti’s factory on the outskirts of New Delhi, will help Maruti sell vehicles in India with more and cheaper local parts, reducing costs and boosting profits, the report said, noting that Maruti has about half the nation’s passenger car market.
