Latest styling features shorter overhangs and the windscreen has been moved forward to give a flatter silhouette. The fully electric roof has been redesigned and dispenses with a convertible top compartment lid.

The new generation debuts in the classic Porsche pairing of Boxster and Boxster S. Both models, both powered by flat-six engines with direct petrol injection, the efficiency of which is enhanced by electrical system recuperation, thermal management and start/stop.

The base 2.7-litre model delivers 265hp – 10hp more than its larger displacement predecessor. Technically, it is now based on the 3.4-litre engine of the Boxster S. This now delivers 315hp, 5hp more than before. Both models feature manual six-speed gearbox as standard with the 7-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) available as an option.

Porsche will also offer its Sport Chrono package as an optional extra for the Boxster, featuring dynamic transmission mounts for the first time. Also new in the Boxster is Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with mechanical rear axle differential lock.

The new generation Boxster will be launched in mid-April with a starting price in Germany of EUR48,291 and EUR59,120 for the Boxster S.
