Porsche has said it plans to present – at the upcoming Geneva Show – its first functional, full hybrid car in the world, the Semper Vivus, 111 years after its World Premiere in 1900.
Ferdinand Porsche presented his electric Lohner-Porsche, featuring steered wheel-hub motors, at the 1900 World Exposition in Paris. By the end of that year, he had combined this electric-drive technology with petrol power – and created the world’s first fully-functional serial hybrid vehicle, the ‘Semper Vivus’ (‘Always Alive’).

The Porsche Museum has now completed a painstaking four-year project to recreate the Semper Vivus. This reborn hybrid pioneer will be presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2011, before becoming part of the Porsche Museum’s collection in Stuttgart and appearing at other selected events.
